Description: | In these pictures, grandpa Dorji Phub demonstrates how to perform meal offering to death soul to pacify the affected person by satisfying the spirit of death person with foods and drinks. In the narrative story, he invites the spirit to the feast from their resting abode to the affected and sick person and give lavish banquets, and ask the death spirit to release the soul of alive person. It also really beneficial to the sick person and we can see them get relieved as a magic. It is inevitable and useful traditional culture in the local community like Phobjikha. | |
Yangchen is a student, lives in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan and employed as a helper for this Nyenkha documentation project. | ||
Jamtsho is a Gup (local leader) of Phobji Gewog (council) and native speaker of Nyenkha. He is employed as a language consultant as well as regional host who selects speaker/language consultant, provide basic facilities (family host) and arrange all necessary things. The research team was really grateful to him for providing all necessary requirements for this ELDP project. | ||
Wangchuk is a PhD researcher at the University of Essex. He is PI, from Phonjikha and a native speaker of Nyenkha. | ||
Sati is 50 years old and a native speaker of Nyenkha. He is a community representative (mang-mi in Nyenkha/Dzongkha) for local government of Pjobjikha council. He is also well-versed in all local traditions passed down from great ancestors. He studied until primary level from Phobjikha Primary School which upgrade to Higher Secondary and Central School from 2015. | ||
Ugyen works for the DDC office and employed as RA with Wangchuk Rinzin. He is a native of Tshangla and uses Dzongkha and English as the national language and international language, respectively. | ||
Yangchen is a student, lives in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan and employed as a helper for this Nyenkha documentation project -ELDP. | ||
Dorji Phub is a Nyenkha speaker and lives at Phobjikha, Wangduephodrang, Bhutan. He is gifted with talented skill in singing traditional ox songs (other songs as well) weaving traditional carrying bamboo baskets and so on. He is famous for his contribution to traditional artefact and other cultural values. | ||
