Description: | Waye Bala tells four traditional folktales.1) About a girl who does not listen to her grandmother’s advice and stays out late in the night to play. The girl gets eaten Khunyen. (min 1-7) 2) A girl that makes slings (for stones) with her friends, and she forgets her knitting needle she has to go back alone. While on the road she meets Khunyen and she climbs a figtree. Her brothers fortunately come to her help and Khunyen meets a surprising death.(min 7-18) 3) Rabbit and the rope pulling competition. Rabbit challenges Elephant in rupe pulling and does the same to f Hippopotamus. While they pull the rope on each side of the rode, Rabbit hides and when the animals finds out he runs to Tortoise and hide. Rabbit decieves elders and becomes afraid to go out again. (min 18-25) 4) Rabbit goes to fish and finds a small horn. The horn can produce food and drinks and Rabbit invites all his friends. Also Khunyen comes to joing the feast. That’s also when the small horn gets burnt and cannot produce as much food anymore. Rabbit goest to fish the following morning and finds another small horn but the horn is wicked and beats Rabbit. Rabbit brings the horn home and the horn beats up his whole family. Even Khunyen stops by and gets beaten up by the horn. The story continues with how Rabbit’s children and wife die and he calls Akishen for help who comes with his magic stick and revives them. (min 25-48) 5) WA sings a song from the Nyaso group.(min 50 -52) The ELAN file currently includes a phonetic transcription and free translation in English.
