Description:		Eleuterio Gorostiza y Cristina Vázquez platican sobre una planta silvestre que Vázquez conoce como xa:lkowxiwit. Vázquez comenta que las hojas del xa:lkowit sirve para curar el empacho. Se hierven las hojas junto con el tequesquite, un poco de carbonato y un poco del alimento que comió el enfermo antes de empacharse, puede ser pan, tortilla, carne pero cualquiera sea el alimento que le haya hecho daño, se debe quemar muy bien y luego molerlo muy fino y se le agrega al agua hervida con las hojas del xa:lkowit. Una vez hervido se le da de tomar al niño o al adulto con empacho. Vázquez dice que sólo conoce un tipo de xa:lkowit, crece a una altura mediana con flores blancas, el tallo se puede ocupar para leña. Se da en cualquier parte, en orillas de camino o en los montes. (NOTA: el término xa:lkowit se aplica a varios tipos de Piper spp. pero no todos los asesores distinguen lexicalmente entre uno y otro tipo de xa:lkowit. Aunque algunos han dicho que el Piper aduncum L. es medicinal, parece que más bien el P. aduncum se usa para alfardas por crecer recto sus tallos; algunos lo conocen como ista:k xa:lkowit. Otro xa:lkowit es el Piper amalago L., que algunos llaman ti:ltik xa:lkowit. Hay más consenso que éste si tiene uso medicinal, part empacho o nexwiti:l.)
