Description:In this recording, Galina Kandakova tells about an event her younger brother Anton had told her years ago. On a hunting outing with a colleague he had come upon long reddish fur hanging in the trees as well as huge foot/pawprints, which the colleague had interpreted as proof of the presence of a yeti. The narrative was recorded in August 2006 by Elena Kalinina and Elena Sumbatova, and a first transcription was done by Nina Sumbatova, with the Russian translation given by Galina Kandakova. The recording was time-aligned in ELAN and retranscribed by Daria Bikina in 2017, who glossed the text. Natalia Aralova checked and corrected the transcription and glosses with Galina Kandakova and Antonina Kazarova. Brigitte Pakendorf provided the English translation. // Этот рассказ был записан в 2006-м году Еленой Калининой и Ниной Сумбатовой. Галина Ивановна Кандакова перерассказывает случай со слов своего младшего брата. Во время охоты ее брат с коллегой наткнулись на рыжеватую шерсть, висевшую на деревьях, так же как и на огромные отпечатки стоп. Коллега решил, что это следы снежного человека.
This project focuses on the documentation of Negidal, a highly moribund Northern Tungusic language spoken by at most a handful of individuals on the Amgun’ and Lower Amur rivers in the Russian Federation. The language comprises two dialects, Upper and Lower Negidal, of which the latter might already be extinct. The project will result primarily in an extensive corpus of interlinearized texts from the Upper dialect together with accompanying audio recordings.
AVK worked as a kindergarten and primary school teacher, and since ~1985 as a teacher of Negidal for children for whom this is L2.
