| This project aims to document Baram, a seriously endangered language of Nepal, for its preservation and promotion. For this purpose, we will develop a corpus of the various texts of the Baram language and thereby prepare resources such as its sketch grammar, lexicon and ethnographic profile. To revitalize the language, we will develop Baram orthography and prepare a Baram primer to facilitate its use in basic education and literacy programmes. The audio-video recordings of the Baram database will be archived with its annotation in a website for its accessibility to linguists, ethnographers and the Baram speech community. | ||
| Ekadasi is a fasting festival celebrated in the Kattik month. In this text Tokman Baram asks Mina Baram to describe about Ekadasi Mela. Mina, a fluent native speaker of the Baram language has described what people do in this festival. People go to take bath early in the morning and everybody make the sheds during the day time and stay, there. They cross the river with the flower. Only one can’t do it, therefore more people required to cross the river. After this, they light the wick in the evening. Some pro also perform the worship of Lord Narayan. People eat Sama, an edible plant during a fast, maize and yam. After coming to the Shiva temple, they complete the fasting worshipping. | ||
| Mr. Tok Man Baram is a fluent speaker of Baram language. We started to work with him from the beginning of the project. and have taken several texts from him. He is a good story teller.His texts are generally interesting, systematically organised and clear. | ||
| Mr. Krishna Prasad Chalise is affiliated to The Central Department of Linguistics, Tribhuvan University. In this project he has been working as a researcher. He has been responsible of coordination of different aspects of the project including some aspects of management, computing, annotation, panning etc. | ||
