Description:It is custom to eat some honey (or in this case shapm) directly after harvesting. Then talk ensues: In the past, women would brew beer for the men who went to harvest honey from full hives. Honey was essential to survive in the lean season. Nowadays, many people farm rice, maize and grains, so there is less dependence on honey, but Maroqs hopes that the younger generation will preserve the skills. People used to share honey as a sign of love or unity. These traditions should not be forgotten, even if the younger generation could not practice it.
