Description: | 22 minute video recording with ripped audio file. In this video Rose Kewin tells the social cognition task story. This follows from v2012-07-27-CA-05.mp4, in which she described each of the pictures individually, and v2012-07-27-CA-06.mp4, in which she arranged them to make a narrative. Recorded in Jessica's house, with Rose Kewin roughly facing the beach, with her back to the road. The "family problems" task is described in San Roque, L., Rumsey, A., Gawne, L., Spronck, S., Hoenigman, D., Carroll, A., Miller, J. C., and Evans, N. (2012). Getting the story straight: Language fieldwork using a narrative problem-solving task. Language Documentation and Conservation, 6:135–174. They describe it as "a structured task for gathering enriched language data for descriptive, comparative, and documentary purposes, focusing on the domain of social cognition." The stimuli consist of 17 pictures, which can be organized in various ways to tell a story. | |
Village name is HiKatip. Rose's parents are Pauline Kewin, from Bipi, and Laurence Kewin. Laurence was a police officer. Rose was born in Moresby, and she has moved around a lot. She went to school in Naringel. When they came to Papitalai she was a young child. She and her mother did not speak Koro very well. They spoke mostly pidgin.
