Description:The Terik are believed to have migrated from the Mount Elgon region near the Kenya-Uganda border from 1855. They moved in an easterly direction and settled in the present Nandi South area while some remained around Mount Elgon. From Nandi South, they dispersed in various dirctions leaving about 30,000 members in their current main settlement. These have however, been assimilated and the number acquiring the Terik as a first language is fast diminishing.
