| Description: | Ernesto Vázquez Chanico y Anastasio Nicolás Damián hablan del chapolistit. Según Nicolás se llama chapolistit porque tiene flores torcidas y hojas alargadas y puntiagudas. No crece alto y produce pocas semillas. Vázquez dice que el chapolistit tiene propiedades medicinales. Sirve para el mal de orín. Menciona que el masa:owat también cura el mal de orín pero solamente el morado porque el masa:owat ista:k ('blanco'; Costus pictus D. Don) es cimarrón y no medicinal. Agrega que para que el masa:owat surta efecto de medicina se debe machacar y posteriormente hervirse. El agua que resulta se toma como agua de tiempo. Vázquez también menciona otra planta (que no nombra sino que solamente la describe rápidamente) que crece en orilla de camino, con hojas pubescentes y alargadas y una flor pequeña y con manchas que sale del centro de la planta. Ésta también sirve para curar el mal de orín. | |
