Description:		Rubén Macario platica del witsite:mpi:l, una planta que se ramifica mucho a pesar de no crecer muy alto. Se da en los chaparrales, cafetales, milpas y a orilla de los caminos. Su tronco siempre tiene mucho líquido y por eso no se seca fácilmente. Sus hojas son alargadas y muy suavecitas con pubescencia. Las flores son tubulares de color rojo. Sus frutos son unos capulines parecidos al xa:lkapolin (Conostegia xalapensis (Bonpl.) D. Don ex DC.). Las abejas, jicotes y el colibrí se le acercan mucho a este arbusto para chupar la miel cuando está en tiempo de floración. Las hojas se usan para lavar y sanar los granos o una herida. Se cortan las hojas verdes y se hierven. Luego se espera a que el agua se enfrie y se lava la parte afectada. También se usan las hojas para curar el dolor de estómago. Se cortan, se hierven y se toma en té. La madera se puede usar para leña pero dado su humedad hay que secarlo al sol. Hasta si se corta para leña y se apila, a veces empieza a retoñar por tener mucha agua. Por la misma razón del agua que tiene, es una madera muy pesada para cargar cuando está verde.
