Muchas personas confunden el olor, se imaginan que a lo mejor ahí cerca puede haber una víbora porque hay una serpiente que también emite un olor xokihya:k, parecido el olor del xo:kihya:kpesma. El olor del xokihya:kpesma es muy fuerte y hasta puede provocar vómito. Al rosarse uno contra con ella, la ropa se queda impregnada del olor.El xo:kihya:kpesma no crece alto y se reconoce porque tiene las ramas lisas y largas.
