| Description: | Pelicito appears holding a ‘peltag’, the spear used by the coastal communities in marine water fishing. He describes the components of the peltag and the system used to propel the iron rod when catching fishes. He goes on explaining that they use gloves when catching lobsters, as they want to keep them alive and to protect their hands of the thorns that are on the back of the lobster. Once they have caught an animal, they put it in a little net that is tied to their waist so they can continue fishing. There is a rubber placed on the net in a way the animals can’t escape but remain alive. Pelicito shows another of the component of the marine water fishing equipment, the home made ‘fin’, with which they can swim much faster. Another component is the fishing goggles or ‘antipara’. When fishing in the evening, the fishermen also use a big torch. With this equipment, Pelicito states that they can catch lobsters, octopi and several fishes. Octopi usually hide under the rocks and are easier to catch in the evening, using the torch. Finally, Pelicito explains why he usually goes fishing with one or two of his sons or also his nephew. | |
