Title:KMF-005
Bibliographic Citation:Topping, Donald, Lester, Mark; 1967-01-01; Two tracks from the same tape. Track 1 (KMF-005-1) contains portions of an audio tape accompanying the book "Lessons in Ponapean", published in 1967 by Donald Topping and Mark Lester. Tape contains portions of Lesson #15, which includes dialogue and introductory speech. Recording quality is OK, but there is some high-pitched noise until about 03:00. There is also some crossover from track 2 that can be heard sporadically. Track 2 (KMF-005-2) has disparate material from different recording sessions, but all created at varying recording speeds. The track does not contain much language data, aside from about 20 seconds in Chamorro. The rest of the track is comprised of musical recordings, likely taped from radio broadcasts: 1) Paul Revere & the Raiders' 1966 song "Kicks"; 2) The Rascals' 1967 song "Sueño"; 3) Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs' 1965 song "Wooly Bully"; 4) Janis Ian's 1965 song "Society Child"; 5) three portions of live recordings, possibly broadcast on Tahitian radio; and 6) a lengthy selection from the TV or radio show called "What's New" from the 1960s, which contains segments of the host performing songs from around the world.; Digital WAV file recorded in mono at 96,000Hz/24 bit. Digitized from a 5" Sarkes Tarzian reel-to-reel tape.; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/40867.
