Title:SD1-084
Bibliographic Citation:Baga, Petrus, Sophune, Pidu (Ebbe), Danerek, H. Stefan, Danerek, H. Stefan; 2015-07-04; Genre: Folk tale/myth. Title: Konde Lenu Lena. Petrus Baga knew many tales, Pidu found out. This tale is one that exists in many versions, all with similar titles; Deba Lenu Lena or something, after a character (or two). This tale differs from the others we have recorded so far in that there are two other characters/names: Konde nu'ane (Old Konde/Rich Konde) and Konde lo'one (Little Konde). An eagle saves, by making alive again, Deba Lenu Lena. She lives with him, then disappears again, kidnapped by the former murderers, the Konde's, and she is finally traded with the eagle for a large rooster. That is how they came to live as humans and the eagle likes to eat chickens. Another version of the tale is called Dhiji (Suweg, an edible plant), and there Dhiji is killed and cooked by a sibling after her mother (Deba Lenu Lena) told her to cook Dhiji if they became hungry. On this first recording session with Baga Pidu recorded some six stories. Done 4 July 2015 in the morning in Baga's house in kampong Oje Diji by Pidu (Ebbe) using the H4N Zoom directly (his first real recording session himself). Baga was later recorded twice again, telling several tales each time.; digital wav file recorded at 48 khz/24 bit, eaf file; Kaipuleohone University of Hawai'i Digital Language Archive;http://hdl.handle.net/10125/38987.
