Audio Notes: This album has photographs that are stuck to adhesive card and difficult to remove without damage. Also, there is a clear plastic film over the top, the plastic part isn’t adhesive but does become stuck to the card if its exposed to it (e.g where there is no photograph).
I have scanned whole pages with some success (leaving the scanner lid open and applying gentle pressure to the album to ensure flatness) but where there are air-bubbles between the plastic and photograph light reflects and ruins the scanned image. It is possible to massage the air out by pushing it to the edge of the plastic (I did this using a glass cleaning cloth to avoid fingerprints) or where the plastic isn’t stuck it can be rolled the whole way back to scan the page.
I have scanned whole pages for context and then made smaller crops (in Epson scan) and re-scanned each image on the page to produce a higher quality image of these photographs. Some photos are big enough that this crop and re-scan step wasn’t necessary. The cropped versions have been labelled numerically rather than a/b/c of a number
There is information on the back of the photographs but as they are too difficult to remove this info’ has not been scanned.
Some photos also overlap and have been scanned as they are due to fragility.
The album has been scanned from the back as this is where the content most relevant to Amanda’s research is located, so although the numbers are ascending, this is from the last page/image of the album.
There are a few loose prints in the album, these have had both sides scanned and labelled a/b if there is info on the back.
