Hiss, hum (at 60Hz with harmonics at 120Hz, 180Hz & 320Hz - seems constant regardless of tape spool/pause - from dub?), analogue distortion and reduced bandwidth on recording. Dub of dub - see A2) for 2nd gen dub. A2) From 5" field tape, 3 3/4ips, NAB eq, 1trk of 1/2trk. Wow, analogue distortion. Hum on recording - tape appears to be dubbed. A2_restored) Digital restoration - test by Conservatorium of Music student Adam Wilson - dehiss and noise gate. B) From AIATSIS archive copy tape A16593. Hiss, hum, analogue distortion, mechanism noise at ~1kHz & ~850Hz, and reduced bandwidth on recording. Whistle/squeal eg. at 0.08 for 2sec at 5835Hz - tape drag on rim during transfer?
