Description:		The unedited film footage from the Deglové production company features the construction and subsequent opening of the Barrandov Terraces (Barrandovské terasy) in 1929. Václav Maria Havel's garden city district on the slope of the Habrová Hill integrated extensive parks, designed by the garden architect Josef Vaněk, into its urban plan. The area's dominant feature, the Barrandov Terraces, a functionalist restaurant offering a scenic view, was, just like the nearby film studio complex, the work of architect Max Urban. The footage includes wider shots of the construction site and the surrounding districts of Hlubočepy, Zlíchov, and the urban developments on Vltava's opposite bank. Prague Mayor Karel Baxa arrives at the construction site accompanied by businessman Miloš Havel. The mayor, his wife, and their entourage keep an eye on the progress of the construction work. Václav Maria and Miloš Havel, together with an unidentified man, look over the architectural plans. The second part of the footage documents the progress of the finishing work and the restaurant's opening, which took place on October 4, 1929, and was attended by approximately 50,000 guests. The arriving visitors sign the guest book. Shots of guests in the restaurant supplement footage of the musical gazebo and the waiters at work. Wide shots of the crowded restaurant, which was at the time frequented both by Prague's cream of the crop as well as its middle class.
