Description:Scientific Name: Syzygium cumini Common Name: Java plum Arkivcentrum Syd ID: 2068153
Khmu Name: kríaŋ [Tai loan]
Description: A 10–15 m tall tree with thick bark. The ripe berries are dark blue and taste good; people, animals and birds come to eat them. The wood can be used as material for building houses. They can grow anywhere in the forest. When people clear their fields they let these trees remain. Some of them have been in the fields for 70 or 100 years. When the area where they are growing is cultivated, people plant chilli, tobacco, ginger, chives (slɛ́ɛp) and basil around these trees, since there is a lot of ash there, and the earth is completely burned.
