Michael Krauss was interviewed for this paper on April 17, 2008. Notes from this interview include the questions: What is the History of Native language in BSSD school? Were early missionaries/educators the primary vector for language change or was it more the advancement of statehood? When did the Inupiaq language first become a written language? Has the written language helped to preserve the oral language in Native communities and with younger generations.
