What was your Father's name? don't have his name. How long have you been in Cantwell? Since 1942, first time I came to Cantwell was 1924. By Goose Island is good trapping grounds. Where would people go for muskrats? Goose Island is the only place where there is muskrats. Monahan Flats have a few muskrats. Nenana River starts at south end of Monahan Flat. At the mouth of Tyone River there are a few graves there. Used to be old camp there. Joe Secondchief's mother is buried there. Two or three different creeks that go into the river where fish was plentiful. Everywhere people had a route to find food. What time of year do you fish for whitefish? Spring time. Different places for white fish. Where did you go to get moose and caribou? First moose I saw in Cantwell was 1935. Lotta moose in Palmer, Eklutna, Knik. Hunt caribou over there? Oh yeah, that is what people lived on. Valdez Creek all way down to cold creek, tangle lakes all caribou country. Goose Island was the old fish camp lands. Grew up in the Valdez Creek area. Brushcana area? There is a creek there on the left hand side. There is a grave there, I think that it was Jake's Mother. There is an old trail that the Road Commission used by Valdez Creek. there is still a cabin where they used to stay when back when they were prospecting. Big potlatch at Tyone Lake in 1928. Her father met us at Tyone Lake. Oly and Pete Tyone, Jake Tansy to Tyone Lake. Potlatch at Copper Center, went to Sourdough with dog team. First stop was Crosswind Lake used to be called Charley Lake. Camped at Ewan Lake. Tazlina was where they had the potlatch. Harry Johns was there. Skookum John was Harry Johns Dad. Suslota charley was there, good dancer. Johnny Tyone's Father was a tall man built like heavy set guy. White, was more white than white guys.
